03/01/07. Blizzard Thursday VRB Games. Stoke’s Stadium, Moore Lake LTF. Court 11. 1930-2100.

A raging blizzard blows through the Twin Cities areas and many racquetball warriors stayed home to hibernate by the warm fireplace…Except for a few hardy what my Russian friends would calls "Crazy-In-the-Heads" Minnesotan RB warriors that is…Aaah….Who lived nearby…Hahaha!....Like Doc MM in New Brighton and Big Al Stoke in North Minneapolis. Also, Doug Lefty’s doubles crew was there enjoying their usual intense games of doubles….

However, no Fireball Mark, the speedster rabbit’s probably still recovering from the flu, no rooky Uma Righty, probably hibernating by the television set sipping good India’s bourbons and eating a healthy salads (Which more of us racquetball players need to do! Eat more greens to improve your health and increase your racquetball game!! Lay off the greasy burgers and cancer sticks!!), the journeyman champ Joel Warrior’s smart and stayed home all warm and tucked in in North Branch all day from work and steered clear of all gridlocks, no puns intended (smiles)…

And…Big Sexy Chad Righty called Doc MM at work saying, "Hey, they are letting us off early from work, I’m reserving court #15 at Moore Lake at 7pm, I’ll be there, blizzard? Winter storm? No problems, I live in Northeast Minneapolis man." Aaah, well, Big Sexy CR was a No-Show….Big Dan Lefty had evil intentions on reclaiming the GT, another smart Minnesotan hibernating at home with his families…Can’t blame him though, it’s close to white out conditions outside! Beautiful but just terrible driving conditions, it’s good thing Doc MM only lives a skip and half a hop away from ML LTF!...

And like another Crazies-In-The-Heads Minnesotans who were there, Mr. Pistol Pete Storey said, "Marcus, I don’t get these guys, where is everybody? This storm is not a big deal, I drive a low Camry and I’m still here playing racquetball and I’m over 50 years old!"….Doc MM just smiled and said, "Pete, you got dedication!"

Well, the VRB fans and pundits that showed up were in for a Minnesota Non-Fat Blizzard Treat as Big Al Stoke Righty challenged Doc MM for the GT in a best out of three format, up to 15, one serve of course….

In game number one, Doc MM had all the momentum in the first game with missile low drives and hard in and hard out down the line and cross court rockets to take an early dominating lead of 12-6! Then Big AR used his 6’5" height and reach and rekilled many of Doc MM barely left up front court splats and pinches to narrowed the score to 11-12 and 12-13! Then, just when the big man AR seemed to have his offensive on full throttle, Doc MM reclaimed the service box with a backhand rocket cross court and Doc MM promptly hit two drive aces to end the game succinctly! One vicious drive to the right abyss that caught the big man AR flat footed and then just a humongous monstrous high velocity cranker cross court blast drive into the left abyss that AR track down, but it was just a blip on his return radar and…ace and game for Doc MM! Doc MM 15, AR 12.

Doc MM went on to win the second game with the same strategy and tactics 15-7.

Big AR and Doc MM played an extra inning game to entertain the sparse hardly VRB fans and pundits that showed up and Big AR won 15-14 for a moral victory.
