03/04/07. Super Sunday VRB Exhibition Drive Service Game.
Nia’s Arena, Moore Lake LTF. Court 14. 1400-1515. The
journey champ Joel Warrior and Doc MM played a dynamic drive services game,
where all serves are required to be drive serves.
VRB fans: No lobs!! No lobs!
JW: Bring it! It’s time that Doc
Marcus McClayson sees the hot flickering flames of my missile photon drives!
Doc MM: Hahaha!...and Joel will
feels the usual demoralizing feeling of watching my mach speed missile drives
right before his eyes and he can’t do anything about it! You see, now do
something with it! Hahaha!
VRB Pundits’ predictions: We think
that Doc MM’s missile low photon drives are more consistent than big Joel,
however, you never know, Joel’s drives could catch a burning fire in this one
game match format and torched Doc MM early and often?! We still like Doc MM to
win 15-6.
The One Game Drive Serves Only Racquetball Throw Down Battle
Royal!....
JW and Doc MM came out with both shot guns going at full
blasts with mach speed deep missile passes and flame throwers for low drives for
early ties of 2-2 and 3-3. With the score knotted at 2-2, JW unloaded a vicious
haymaker howitzer monster Z-drive into the right abyss to take a minute 3-2 lead
that took half of the VRB fans’ breath away! Wow! Doc MM went to the left abyss
in return error and looked pretty bad as the ball ran parallel to the backwall
in the opposite abyss! Ouch! However, the VRB pundits were correct, Doc MM’s
drives and passes were more consistent and Doc MM won in the end 15-4, helped
out of course when JW skipped two crucial front court setups.
Sidenote: Doc MM’s princess Mei Luu
Righty learned some racquetball from the incorrigible Doc MM himself, like court
positioning, basic rules and the forehand stroke. Mei showed exceptional
capacity to learn the stroke and is an excellent student of the game. Her down
the line forehand passes were coming along just dandy!
Suggestion for JW for Tuesdays night’s racquetball for the
next two months: Joel, just drive serves on Tuesday
nights without caring about the win/loss results and on Thursday nights at St.
Louis Park, mixed it up? 50% lobs and 50% drives….
