I have
been trying to move up the club ladder here at the University of Illinois and
realized that I needed to diversify my service game. I have been experimenting
with Jam Serves, but it keeps ending up in the middle of the court?
In a Jam in
Illinois….
I suggest that you continue to experiment
solo on the court. First figure out all the angles and velocities and variables
for the different serves. Then, I suggest to hit a straight two bounces corner
drive and use this as a reference. Thus, for a jam serve, just move your front
wall target closer to the sidewall to angle the ball into your opponent’s body.
I am an older avid racquetball player from the
great city of Fresno California and I love your website with a passion. We all
commend you and your staff for disseminating free racquetball information to the
average avid players. Thanks and hello from your friends in California!
I do have a
question in here somewhere: It has come to my attention and those of my
racquetball friends, that my cross court passes are slower than my down the line
passes? We cannot figure out why this is so?
Crossed with my
cross court pass...
I
really appreciate your sincere praise and kind words. It is nice to know that
this website helps people to get involve in playing the greatest game in the
universe!
The only reason I can think of why you are hitting your down the line passes
harder than your cross court passes boils down to your mental game. Essentially
they are the same type of shot with a slight difference in where you contact the
ball (further up in your stance) and it goes cross court. So, forget about the
why’s and why’s not’s of why you’re hitting one shot harder than another. I
suggest adhering to fundamentals and ripping the ball with a complete follow
through. Are you hitting the cross court with a complete follow through and with
the same confidence as your down the line passes?
