Pace Principle: The principle basically means taking
time on most of your shots mentally (by using your visualization skills and good
reads) to slow the game down. Yet at the same time, you are playing 100%
physically (including speed).
AARA: American Amateur Racquetball Association, the governing
body of amateur racquetball, formerly the International Racquetball
Association.
Ace: A serve that scores a point without being touched by the
receiver.
Advantage position: Center court position; position from which
kill and pass shots are best executed.
Alley: The area on both sides of the court near the sidewalls
that is formed by extending an imaginary line from the doubles service
box to the front and rear walls.
"A" Player: A player whose skill level is very advanced.
Sometimes used synonymously with Open player. Varies locally.
Angled Serve: A power serve that first strikes the front wall
and then hits low on the sidewall without touching the floor before
bouncing in the backcourt.
Anticipation: The act of predicting and moving into position
to return an opponent’s shot.
Around the Wall Ball (AWB): A defensive shot with the path of
side wall to front wall to sidewall to floor.
Avoidable Hinder: Avoidable interference that results in
automatic loss of the exchange.
