Camper: A type of players who stand in the way of your shot
and illegally impede your stroke. A designation made famous by world
renowned racquetball coach, Fran Davis.
Ceiling Return: A ceiling ball used as a service return.
Ceiling Serve: A fault serve that contacts the ceiling after
hitting the front wall.
Ceiling Shot: Defensive shot with the path of ceiling to front
wall to floor.
Center Court: The most strategic area of the court located in
the middle about four to five feet in back of the short service line.
Center of Gravity: A point where you are stable and can hit with power
and consistency.
Change of Pace Serve: A slow, off-speed serve used to change
the tempo of play.
Choke: To move the hand up or down on the racquet handle or to
play poorly under pressure.
Chump change: What you get when you’re serves are off.
Continental Grip: A one grip system for holding the racquet.
The hand position is somewhere between the forehand and backhand grips.
Closed Face: A racquet face angle in which the hitting surface
slant toward the floor or to the front wall side of a player.
Cocked Wrist Position: The position of the wrist when the
racquet is pulled back in its set position.
Control: The ability to hit the ball to a predetermined spot.
Control Player: A player who relies primarily on shot
placement rather than on the power of shots.
Corner Kill Shot: See Pinch Shot.
Court: The playing area, the dimensions of which are 40 feet
long by 20 feet wide by 20 feet high.
Court Hinder: Any obstacles on the court that deflects the
ball and interferes with play, such as a door latch, transoms,
thermostats, and so forth.
"C" Player: A player whose skill level is at the basic or
fundamental level. The advanced beginner level. Varies locally.
Crack Ball: Shot that strikes the juncture of the side or rear
wall and the floor. Ball squirts out irretrievably.
Cross Court Drive Return: A relatively hard hit service return
that hits the front wall and passes the server on the side opposite from
where the shot was hit.
Cross Court Pass: An offensive shot that hit diagonally from
one side of the court to the other.
Crotch Ball: A ball that strikes the juncture where two
playing surfaces meet.
Crotch Serve: A serve that hits the juncture of the front wall
and the floor, sidewall or ceiling. It results in a loss of serve.
Crowders: A type of player who cheat by getting too close, in
an attempt to restrain your complete stroke and follow through
Crowding: Standing or playing unreasonably close to your
opponent to hinder their shots and shot preparation.
Cut Off Shot: A shot hit before it bounces, also calls fly
shot or volley.
Cutthroat: Game involving three players, each one serves in
turn and plays against the other two.
Cybervision: A company that sells audiovisual tapes that
improves your game through visualization.
