Game: Competition played between players or teams until one of them scores 11 or 15 points.

Game Face: The serious and professional demeanor a player puts on their face for an upcoming tough match.

Game Point: The point that decides the winner of the game.

Garbage Serve: A half speed serve that hits midway up on the front wall and returns to the receiver around shoulder height in either of the rear court corners.

Gets: When a player continue to retrieve hard to return shots.

Goofy-Footed: What happens when you are forced to hit a shot while unbalanced and/or in a contorted position.

Goose Egg: The delicious types of eggs you will get to feast upon after defeating your opponent, 15-0 and 15-0!

Grip: The way in which the racquet is held. The part of the handle grasped by the hand.

Half and Half Formation: See Side by Side Formation.

Half Lob Serve: Same as Garbage Serve.

Half Volley: The act of hitting the ball immediately after it bounces on the floor.

Handout: Loss of serve by the first partner of the doubles team.

Handshake Grip: The most common method of gripping the racquet, like shaking hands with a person.

Head: The oval, rectangular, or teardrop shaped part of the racquet that contains the strings.

Head on a Tripod Rule:  Notice that when top IRT pros track a ball, they use their eyes to track it while keeping the head still. Using your head to track the ball will create a tendency to pull up on the upper body and compromising shot consistency and power. You can practice the Head on a Tripod Rule anywhere. While driving, look around you without moving your head. While sitting at your desk, use your eyes to look around you without moving your head too much. Keep your head still and move your eyes to track the ball and you’re on your way to racquetball mastery!

Herding: A crowder technique of blocking the cross court passing lane and forcing the opponent to shoot a down the line pass. This allows the crowder to cover only one shot.

Hiccup: A racquetball technique error, where a player goes from a semi-crouched position to an erect position to return a serve and thus, ruins their consistency and usually results in a skip or horrible shot.

High Lob Serve: Ball touches the sidewall on its descent into the back court but does not come off the backwall.

Hinder: Interference causing stoppage of play either during a rally or service.

Hitting Alley: The lane the ball travels on its way to the front wall.

Hustle: The ability of a player to get to nearly impossible gets because of his great ‘never say die’ efforts.
