Offensive Shot: Any shot designed to score a point or end a rally.

One Armed Bandit: A type of player who only has one good stroke, either backhand or forehand, but not both.

One on Two: Game with three players in which the server plays the other two for the entirety of the game.

One Wall Racquetball: An outdoor variety of the sport in which only a front wall is utilized.

One More Step Rule: (for Backwall Plays) If you are preparing to take the ball off the backwall, then whatever area you think might be the second bounce area for the ball to drop into, take another step back towards the backwall. Most amateurs have a tendency to be too far from the backwall on these backwall setups opportunities. They end up scooping the ball towards the front wall because the ball is behind them. Take that extra step and move with the ball towards the front wall for maximum power and consistency on backwall shots.

Second Rule:  If you think the ball is low enough and you are ready to strike the ball with your ERP, the rule of thumb is to wait another second or two for a lower and thus better shot. The One-Second Rule teaches you patience in waiting for the ball to drop lower for you to hit better high percentage racquetball shots.

Open Face: The angle of the racquet-ball contact whereby the hitting surface is slanted toward the ceiling. This causes unwanted slicing or backspin on the ball.

Open Player: An advanced ‘A’ level player and displays all of the skills one could ask for in racquetball. All shots can be used for offense, the ball is always hit crisply, and center court position is maintained. Backhand and forehand are equally excellent.

Open Stance Swing: The type of stance most often used in center court when the ball comes quickly.

Out: Failure to return a ball during play.

Out of Court Ball: Any ball that leaves the court. Balls that strike the front wall before leaving the court are replayed, otherwise a point or loss of serve results against the player hitting it.

Out of Order Serve: When either partner in doubles serve in the wrong rotation.

Out Serve: Any serve that result in a loss of serve.

Overhead Shot: A shot made during a rally by hitting the ball when it is in the air above your head.

Oversized Racquet: A racquet with a large head.
