In the latest edition of the Peck saga, the Peck
brothers were at it again in Las Vegas at the Doubles Nationals (Nov/Dec
2001 Racquetball Magazine). They brought home the gold medals in
divisions that shaped up into pro tour reunions at the master’s level.
The Peck brothers, Dave and Gregg Peck, now competing in the 35+ and 40+
age divisions chose former pro tour rivals as their doubles allies.
Marty Hogan teamed up with Dave Peck to oust defending
champion Tim Hansen and Gordon Kirkland in the Men’s 40+ division.
Younger brother Gregg paired with southpaw local Bret Harnett in the 35+
to defeat 2000’ champs Dave Eagle and Dave Watson.
The Peck brothers might even have met in the 35’s, if
Hogan and Dave had not been eliminated by another former pro tour
regular pair - Woody Clouse and teammate Mark Helton of Denver Colorado.
Had Dave advanced another round, the rivalry could have re-kindled in
the semi’s. Instead, Hogan and Peck shifted gears to continue in the 40s
to go up against Hansen/Kirkland for their momentous tiebreaker win.
Besides still competing with tremendous success in the
amateur age group ranks, Dave Peck is also known for his work with
SyberVision in creating a top notched racquetball form video in
1986, set to classical music.
Dave Peck, legendary racquetballers of the late 1970s
and early 1980s residing from Austin Texas was inducted into the
Racquetball Hall of Fame in 1997.
