CK: Sounds pretty simple
Doc? Why didn’t the Vikes implement the Pass-Pinch last night?
Doc MM: I think they did,
but not effectively, like I said, they were predictable on 1st
and 2nd downs and did not make use of all of their major
talents on the offensive side.
CK: So, football and sports
in general can benefits each other in terms of strategies and tactics?
Doc MM: Exactly Cindy.
CK: Well, Doc, that was an
illuminating discussion on what the Vikes needed to do better to win
games this season, do you think they can win the Super Bowl this year?
When?
Doc MM: I think the Vikings
have some tremendous talents and have the potential to win a Super Bowl,
but probably not this year, because they haven’t really established an
effective working system on both sides of the ball and they have not
learned how to play competitively with top notched NFL teams like the
Eagles and Rams. I would say, the Vikes would need at least 5-8 more
years before they make full use of all their talents on offense and
probably win a Super Bowl in 2009 at the earliest.
CK: 2009? That’s pretty
optimistic Doc? Given the Vikes’ propensity for losing Super Bowls?
Doc MM: No, that’s not
overly optimistic Kitchen, it’s just the facts ma’am. The Vikes have a
lot of talents and a great leader in Mike Tice, but like all good
things, it’ll take plenty of time for the Vikes to mature as a team and
bring it all together and win their first Super Bowl in 2009 at the
earliest and 2011 at the latest.
CK: Before we close our VRB
show, let’s talk about Mike Tice, what are your impressions of the
Minnesota Vikings Head Coach?
Doc MM: I like Mike Tice.
When you watch this man, you get the sense that he cares about winning
for winning sake, not just for the monies. I didn’t get this sense with
Dennis Green and other past Vikings head coaches. You can tell that a
loss really affects this big man and make him work harder for himself
and his team to play better and win more games. I think Mike Tice’s an
open minded head coach and the Vikings are in good hands with Coach Mike
Tice. If anyone is going to win a Super Bowl for Minnesota, it’ll be Mr.
Tice.
CK: Well folks, that’s all
the time we have today, may your families and friends be well and stay
warm out there in cool Minnesota and we’ll see all of ya on the courts
and football fields of life and racquetball!!
