Shannon Wright
 

Accomplishments

  • During her 12 years career, she won over 35 professional tournaments.
  • Shot her way with her revolutionized the game with her aggressive and hard hitting style to 7 National Championships.
  • She was ranked number 1 on the WPRA for four years.
  • In 1977, The International Racquetball Association voted here "Athlete of the Year."
  • In 1979, Racquetball Illustrated Magazine selected her as "Player of the Year.
  • In 1980, she authored "The Women’s Book of Racquetball."
  • In 1981, Shannon took third place in the televised ABC Superstar Competition in Key Biscayne, FL.
  • In 1982, she lost the National Professional Championship to Lynn Adams by a single point in a dramatic match that lasted over 3 hours.
  • In 1989, Shannon Wright completed a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She made her final appearance in competitive racquetball at the National Championships in her hometown of Ft Worth, Texas, where she advanced to the semis.
  • 12/2002: Dr. Wright was awarded her PhD.
     

Currently, Dr. Shannon Wright is in the process of completing the last two years of Medical School. After her residency in Internal Medicine, she and her husband Dr. Lloyd Nietling plan to remain in Minnesota.
