Today class, we go through some of the important racquetball
shots and discusses some of the key points of each shot. Let’s begin and add
more weapons to our racquetball game to take us to a whole new level of
racquetball understanding and skill level! Remember gumshoes, perfect practice
makes perfect! Mary Lou Retton rules!
Lobs: For the
new wave of Slop Serve, use a shorter ERP, bend your knees more than the
traditional lobs and put some underspin on the ball to make it carry deeper and
with reverse spin. Step first and then bounce the ball and only use three fourth
powers on the swing. Visualize front wall target and angled ball to the back
corners.
Mental Game: Do not get overly
concern with your opponent’s gifted speed, talent, state titles, and reputation,
just play high percentage racquetball and keep them on the move and deep and
you’ll increase your winning chances on each and every rally.
Believe in yourself because you only have you at the end of
the day. Do not let intimidation and awe over your opponent’s past achievements
keep you from playing high percentage RB. Past results are not indicative of
future earnings is a phrase used much in investment talk.
Drives: Use the reverse sequence
from the lobs. Toss arm sticks out first, then initializes first step, drops
ball, ball and first step hit ground together, ERP follows similar path of
ball’s up and down motions.
Develop service rhythm and be creative and reminds yourself
that you are really in total control as you are dropping the ball out of your
own hands and placing it where you want the ball to be hit from and where you
know where the ball is going to in the back court.
