Jam Serves: Work on the
confidence and technique of the drive service delivery and then
experiment with the drop zone and front wall targets to create
troublesome Jam Serves for your opponent to handle in the back court and
adds another element to your racquetball game.
Ceiling Ball: Use three
fourth powers, get into position quickly, and follow through completely
towards the front wall. Backhand ceiling ball target is around shoulder
height and forehand ceiling ball is like throwing a baseball over your
head.
Nick Lobs: Bend knees
slightly, but hitting the correct front wall target is more important.
Go for height and angle on the front wall for the ball to carom deeper
into the back corner where it should ideally nicks the sidewall deep
about 38 feet deep and drop in the back corner to limits your opponent’s
return options. One suggestion is to visually cut the front wall
vertically down into two parts and using this as a reference in your
mind’s eyes.
Returns: Very important to
set aside time during your practice sessions to work on solo returns,
where you imagine a server serving different serves and you have a ball
in your hand and going through the process of hitting a high percentage
return and relocating to center court to cover your shot.
