Continuous Service Motion

For a continuous and flowing service motion, three steps are crucial: drop, step and ERP (early racquet preparation) – all in concert. This sequence is the same for the drive and the lob serves.

For the right drive, dropped the ball perpendicular to the left shoulder or bisecting it like a "T." I use a full arm extension for all serve drops. From this initial drop zone, I vary it slightly one inch for a left drive to the left corner. And for a right Z-drive, I use even more angle towards the front wall.

Once the drop zones for the corner drives are established, you could practice varying the drop zones for Jams and Wrap-around serves. Jams and Wrap serves can be more difficult because of their angles and the paths can leave the server stranded me in the middle of the court with a setup coming off the backwall if the variables are not right.
