Drive Serve Sequences
For better timing on your drive service, stick your toss
arm out first to the desired drop area before starting the first step
with the rear foot. Then lift the rear foot up, but keep the entire body
trunk level throughout and drop the ball. The rear foot plants the same
time as the ball hitting the ground.
As the rear foot and ball are in synchronization, your racquet reaches
maximum height when ball/rear foot hits the ground at the same time. As
the ball rises, the front foot begins the second step and the racquet
accelerates towards the explosive racquet/ball contact point.
When the second front foot plants, the lower body thrusts violently
into the shot, head down, eyes on the ball, racquet reaches maximum
velocity and the upper body carries the tremendous power of the lower
body and accumulates with the powerful wrist snap into the ball.
Always have a complete follow through staying level and low, pushing
off your front foot to reverse momentum to relocate out of the box.
While relocating out of the box and planting your feet in the box,
you watch the ball’s path and watch your opponent’s return. Important to
watch opponent’s return and plant your feet in the box to move in any
direction to cover your opponent’s return.
Oh, have your racquet position above your waist near your center
line for easy ERP to both wings.
