Attacking Defense
Tendencies
Strategy aimed at tendencies
If your opponent sets up on the forehand and usually
pinches into the right corner or goes cross court, position left of
center (where an erroneous high ball is heading). Challenge him to pass
you cleanly down the right sidewall.
A well-rounded opponent (aggressive forehand down the
line, cross-court kills, passes, and possesses a tough pinch) forces you
to play with honest coverage.
Position yourself far enough on the right
side to respect that 6-7 foot alley passing lane down the right
sidewall. Be ready to break left for his cross-court attempt or move
forward at a pinch kill shot.
An opponent with a versatile forehand may tend to hit
every backhand cross-court. Edge over to the right side and lag a bit
until the opponent proves he can hurt you with passes down the left wall
or pinches into the left corner.
