Packer legendary coach Vince Lombardi once said, "Between
two equally matched opponents, then the intangibles become that much
more important," or something to that effect.
Nuts and Bolts
At the "A" and "Open" levels of racquetball, or the
two top levels of racquetball, most players have can hit the ball well
on both sides: backhand and forehand.
Most players understand racquetball to a high enough
level to understand the importance of court positioning, service and
return strategies, and the fundamentals of taking high percentage shots.
All of these factors are physical variables that can
be measured and quantify. Yet, between two evenly matched opponents, it
is the intangibles that separate the top amateur from the champion
caliber player and give him the edge to win games.
What are some of the intangibles that give one player
an edge over another? We will discuss six intangibles that will shed
light on the little details that make champions.
