Racquetball Intangibles

Intangible #1

IQ or Intensity Quotient

How much intensity do you have during a game will translate to good you play.

Do not confuse being calm with having no intensity. For example, McClayson's favorite player is a young IRT player named, Jack Huczek.

Huczek’s on court demeanor is ice in his veins and calm casualness. But do not equate Huczek’s calmness and poise with a laid back approach to the game, because Huczek’s calm and at the same time, he’s very intense during the entire match.

If you are prone to be too laid back, than to pump yourself up. We suggest that you talk to yourself and tell yourself positive things during a game. The higher your intensity during a game, the higher your chances of getting to those key shots that can make or break a match and lead you to ultimate match victory. So pump yourself up by yelling at the walls.

Yell at yourself in a positive manner and just get into a highly intense state of mind. You will find that you are better prepared and win more rallies and thus, more games and more matches!
