Intangible #2
Dictating Points
Having a high level of intensity will prepares your body to
stretch and run down many balls and play hard every point. But you are not doing
much with your setup opportunities; all the setups opportunities in the world
will not help your goal of a win. You must use your intensity to Dictate Point.
You must make every effort to force your opponent to play your game, to bend to
your will.
Dictating Points means that you strive to be the offensive
player at all times. If you must go to a defensive ceiling shot, then you must
because you were either out of position and/or off balance, but once your
opponent gives you an opening, you must Dictate Points by shooting offensively
at every opportunity! When you Dictate Points, you will force your opponents to
make more unforced errors because he knows that if he doesn’t hit his shot good
enough, he might not get a second chance!
Intangible #3
Adjustment Flexibility Time
Factor (AFTF)
AFTF basically means that you must at all times assess what
you are doing right, what you are doing wrong, and asks the same questions of
your opponents and make constant adjustments to increase your chances of winning
and decrease your opponents.
For example, if your opponent is splatting out your deep lobs,
then you must make a quick adjustment and move the ball farther away from the
sidewalls and make it tougher for your opponent to hit their favorite shots and
disrupt their groove by taking away their pinch and splat angle!
Another example is, if you’re opponent drive serving medium
paced serves, and then adjust by moving up two to three feet to get closer to
these slower drives and cut off their angles! It’s as simple as taking step in
any one direction!
