Checklist for a powerful
forehand
□ Use the eastern forehand grip to hit the ball flat
and level with maximum force.
□ Face a sidewall when hitting the ball whenever
possible to utilize lower body power sources.
□ The non-hitting hand should extend toward the front
wall.
□ Hit from a semi-crouched position.
□ Use a full backswing and rotate the upper body so
that your shoulders are parallel to the backwall.
□ Make sure you are facing a sidewall so that you can
step forward and shift your weight from your back foot to your front
foot as you hit the ball. Shifting your body weigh is very important.
□ The face of the racquet must be perfectly square to
the target. Everything up to this point is designed to achieve this
racquet position. Do not turn your racquet over the top, and don’t under
cut the ball.
□ The contact must be made opposite your forward foot
for maximum extension, which equals maximum power potential of your
stroke.
